About this course

Always wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater? The Introduction Dive at Odysseic Divers is the easiest way to try scuba for the very first time — no experience and no certification needed. After a relaxed briefing and a shallow-water warm-up, your instructor guides you on a real ocean dive over the reefs of Gili Trawangan. All equipment and one-on-one supervision included.

Have you always been curious about the underwater world but never taken the plunge? The Introduction Dive at Odysseic Divers is made for complete beginners. In a single day, with no prior experience and no certification, you’ll discover what it feels like to breathe underwater and explore a tropical reef alongside your own instructor.

How the Day Works

Your adventure starts on dry land with a friendly, easy-to-follow briefing. Your instructor walks you through how the equipment works, a few simple skills, and everything you need to feel safe and relaxed before you get in the water. We take it entirely at your pace — there’s no rush and no pressure.

Once you’re comfortable, you’ll head out for your first real ocean dive. Staying close to your instructor the whole time, you’ll descend to a maximum depth of 12 metres and glide over the coral gardens that make the Gili Islands famous. The water here is warm, clear, and full of life — keep an eye out for green turtles, reef fish, and the occasional reef shark.

Why You’ll Love It

  • No experience or certification required
  • One instructor with you at all times (max 4 guests per group)
  • All scuba equipment included
  • A real ocean dive, not just a pool session
  • Warm, calm water that’s perfect for first-timers

Good to Know

The Introduction Dive is an experience, not a certification course. If you fall in love with diving — and most people do — the skills you learn carry straight over into a full Open Water Diver Course, so nothing goes to waste.

Take your first breath underwater with Odysseic Divers and find out why so many people get hooked on diving in the Gili Islands. Your adventure starts here.

Frequently asked questions

What if I get nervous underwater?

That's normal, and it's why we start in the shallows. Your instructor stays right next to you, and you can surface whenever you want. Most people relax within a few minutes.

Does the Discovery Dive count towards a certification?

It isn't a certification, but the skills you learn carry straight over into the Open Water Diver Course, so nothing goes to waste.

How old do I need to be?

The minimum age is 10. Everyone fills in a short medical questionnaire before getting in the water.
